VA – Shaolin Style (Vinyl) (1995) Flac

The battle has been waged. The fort has been captured. Just Doin’ It Right Productions/Management has supplied the weapons – The Rugged Assasinz (Peace Shahiyd, Melv Da Hell-Razor), Redrum – “Da Bodycatcha”, The Lowlifes (Booya, Striketerror, Ravage and Dj Nonstop), Double Action (Mo Diggy and Sealo), E.G., Hasstyle, Renagayd, War-Child, and The Zone (Mayday and Laa) are representin’ the new vanguard of Performas com-in-atcha from SHAOLIN ISLE. These acts are poised to make their mark on the music Industry. THEY WILL NOT BE DENIED! SHAOLIN STYLE is a compilation album showcasing the best of what many critics consider to be the freshest, most innovative school of Hip-Hop, the “Shaolin Style” coming outa Staten Island, New York.
“Mortal Kombat”, the albums first cut, sets the tone as The Rugged Assasinz’ raw, hardcore lyrics are “kicked” over contrasting melodic beats. Group member Peace Shahiyd explains, “the music reflects who I am, it’s real”. Melv Da Hell-Razor further explains that “Hardcore Street Knowledge must be addressed!” Redrum “Da Bodycatcha” makes an appearance on this track. His death scene lyrics are haunting. Redrum proclaims that “my style goes back to the essence of the Lyrical Battle. No guns! Just my words, it’s Mortal Kombat of the Mind!”
The hardcore emotion is also captured by The Lowlifes as they perform the street rap “Big Up”. Group members Booya, Ravage, Striketerror and Nonstop describe their sound as “Undeground Roughness”. These beats are not for the weak-of-heart!
The group Double Action offers a song that combines riveting beats and hardcore verses in “Do or Die”. The duo Mo Diggy and Sealo have been together for several years as is evidenced by their smooth delivery. The two anticipate one another’s style. The result is lyrical Hypeness!
The cut, “Darkside of Life”, is reflective. The Zone, featuring Hasstyle, gets minds OPEN! This single can be described as “Dungeon Hardcore” with meaning. The Zone members Laa and Mayday agree that there must be “Knowledge and Science behind the music”. A beat and lyrics without purpose are a waste of their time!
“Life in the Ghetto” is a break from the albums hardcore feel. Soothing West Coast beats flava’d by powerhouse R&B vocals courtesy of Heather “Ciara” Mangus and Sonya Mason. A musical interlude delivered with sheer smoothness by Shane “Gifted” Nembhard adds the finishing touch to this already mighty mix as Double Action kick their lyrics with their East Coast vibe. But its ALL good!
Another surprising departure is the Reggae song “Wave Your Gun” by E.G. E.G. offers soul-stirring, compelling Reggae beats. E.G. describes his music as “Reggae Hip-Hop coming real.” He explains “my music is about what goes on in real life, straight from the heart, about things I go through”.
Hasstyle settles the listener securely back into the Shaolin groove with “Road to Success”. His militant style produces lyrics that flow as he raps about his hopes and dreams, about making it in this chaos-ridden world.
The Hood becomes the focus once again. Rapper Renegayd blends soft melodies with lyrics that produce realistic images of life ‘round the way. Renegayd’s music concentrates on Street Mentality and Reality. This is in keeping with the lessons learned from his musical mentor, Mad Lion. This straight-up style can also be seen in Renegayd’s delivery when he hosts the music interview program “Video Posse”.
The album’s final cut is the glue that binds this collaborative musical effort together. The sounds of the title cut “Shaolin Style” defines the album’s progressive musical, social and emotional direction. Double Action, War-Child and Renegayd bring their unique styles together, accompanied by smooth beats, to offer music lover a taste of the Shaolin School’s varied styles. These soldiers take no prisoners!
Album producer, Louis Lake makes a complete musical statement. He embraces several different musical reflections flava’d with the distinctive “Shaolin Isle” vibe. Under the skillful direction of Leo Batista, Ivan Duran, Joseph Parnell, Priya Wick and Danny Coston – the Just Doin’ It Right Management/Production team, Shaolin Style is proof positive that Hip-Hop is alive and Kickin’ on the Isle of Staten.

Some hard as fuck promo only Staten Island shit right here!

Fallacy ‎– Blackmarket Boy (2003) Flac + 320kbps

South London’s Daniel “Fallacy” Fahey raps as if he’s got the weight of British hip-hop on his shoulders – which he effectively has. Long a poor relation of the American scene, the UK has never produced an MC who can hold his/her own against international (ie US) competition. But if Fallacy’s debut doesn’t put this country on the map, there’s just no hope. Employing a uniquely Brit mix of ragga, R&B, garage and hip-hop, Blackmarket Boy (his own coinage for “petty criminal”) couldn’t have been made anywhere but here, yet its moreish hooks and Fallacy’s booming delivery give it border-crossing immediacy. His previous career as a West End bouncer is trawled for vignettes about nightlife denizens such as the “rickshaw boys and two-bits druggies”, which contrast wildly with rap’s usual big-upmanship. The Groundbreaker’s dancehall roughness and Big’n’Bashy’s sweet reggae also capture a London street feel, but without sacrificing an ounce of American-style slickness. Having poured all his experiences into this album, which establishes him as both a distinctive voice and a vivid street reporter, he’ll have a hard time bettering it. /The Guardian/

This is one more of dem UK Hip-hop top 50, so cop it!

Skratch Bastid / John Smith / Pip Skid ‎– Taking Care Of Business (2005) Flac + 320kbps

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS skratch bastid/john smith/pip skid While the collabo group is nothing new,as soon as this joint right here drops into your audio device, you’ll realize that something different is going on.And not something new like gay marriage or white chocolate peanut butter cups, more along the lines of glasses that allow you to melt G-Unit hoodies when you stare at ‘em or a whistle that shatters shitty records with one toot. The brainchild of legendary deck wrecker Skratch Bastid, this album is a testament to his desire to bring the DJ back into the hiphop record. Bastid,Pip and Smitty got together in the spring of 2004 to play a few shows and record an album in Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada. A couple weeks of late night sessions,a handful of shows, and many, many drinks resulted in Taking Care of Business.Months later, the trio was re-united in Winnipeg to complete the circle and film a video for the album’s anthem “I Ain’t Lazy”.Shot in one day,it is an ironically non-sarcastic look at what happens from sun-up to sun-down in the life of the busy entertainers. Taking Care Of Business is about that grind-playing a show, recording a record or working a job so you have an oppor- tunity to do the rest.It ’s enjoying the benefits of being an entertainer or falling peril to the difficulties of doing what you love.Taking Care of Business, among other things,is a record about 3 hip-hop artists who work hard at their craft.Give love and you’ll get love.

Blacko – Le Temps Est Compte (2015) Flac
